The Moment

The death of brat summer
Two years ago, unapologetic pop visionary Charli XCX gave the world brat, and with it, a cultural phenomenon that defined the season. Brat summer was all sweaty dancefloors, carefree debauchery and an unapologetic embrace of imperfection. The neon-green album became a movement and a mindset, spreading far beyond the music scene – including to places it probably had no business being. But what happens when a spontaneous cultural phenomenon gets packaged into a carefully calculated commercial product?

The Moment is a darkly funny, self-mocking pop satire starring Charli XCX, aka Charlotte Emma Aitchison, as an exaggerated, fictionalised version of herself on the brink of her first solo arena tour. Success has brought with it an entire army of people, all convinced they know exactly what Charli's next big moment should look like. Meanwhile, her own vision risks getting buried under endless marketing meetings and commercial expectations.

Blurring the line between documentary and fiction, The Moment takes a wickedly funny look behind the scenes of the pop industry, exposing just how easily something genuinely original can have its edges smoothed away when enough people stand to make money from it.
