Screening Venues
Rokumentti's film screenings take place at the Joensuu Cinema Center Tapio. Any other potential screening venues will be announced alongside the program release.
Accessibility
All screening rooms in Tapio feature wheelchair spaces and induction loops. Tapio has accessible entry, and moving inside the cinema center is also fully accessible. The facilities include an accessible toilet, and the Restroom Pass (Vessapassi) is accepted. You can find more information on the Savon Kinot website.
Safer Space Principles
Rokumentti belongs to everyone. There is no place for harassment or inappropriate behavior of any kind at the festival.
Respect Others
Respect the physical and psychological space, as well as the self-determination, of every festival guest. Remember that no always means no—respect the boundaries set by others. Also, treat other people's property and the surrounding environment with respect.
Do Not Assume
Do not make assumptions about other people. Welcome everyone with an open mind, free of prejudice, and give everyone the space to be completely themselves.
Ask for Permission
Do not touch anyone without their permission—this includes various assistive devices. Also, ask for permission before entering someone else's physical space. Remember that consent must always be mutual.
Treat Others with Warmth
Do not criticize, mock, discriminate against, or embarrass anyone with your words or behavior—even as a joke. Treat everything around you with warmth and respect. Give others space in conversations. It is okay to disagree on things, but we always treat each other with respect.
Stand Up for Yourself and Others
We are all responsible for the atmosphere at Rokumentti. Remember that your actions affect other festival-goers. Intervene in inappropriate behavior, and stand up for your own rights as well as the rights of others.
Listen and Take Responsibility
If you receive feedback regarding your behavior, accept it openly. Apologize if your actions or words have unintentionally or intentionally hurt other people or damaged someone else's property. If you feel unsafe at the festival or encounter inappropriate behavior, always turn to the staff.
About Rokumentti
Based in Joensuu, Rokumentti Rock Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Nordic countries focusing on music cinema. With its diverse and thought-provoking lineup, the five-day festival brightens up the dark days of mid-November.
The festival showcases current films related to popular culture, new Finnish works, and classics of the genre. The music film lineup is complemented by the most important and discussion-prompting films of the festival year, most of which would not otherwise be possible to see on the big screen in these latitudes.
Every year, the screenings are attended by several filmmakers and guest speakers who share insights about making the films, their backgrounds, and discuss the themes of the works.
Rokumentti stands out as a phenomenon that enlivens the late autumn in Joensuu's city center, as numerous bars, brick-and-mortar businesses, and cultural actors complement the festival week with their own programming.
