Siri Hustvedt – Dance Around The Self

A Life Written in Questions
Siri Hustvedt had her future mapped out by the age of thirteen: she was going to be a writer. A decade later, she traded Minnesota’s quiet expanses for the bustle of New York. Her fascination with art, feminism and the human mind would shape acclaimed novels including What I Loved, The Sorrows of an American and The Blazing World.

Sabine Lidl’s documentary explores Hustvedt’s restless curiosity, creative life and enduring love of words. It also follows her decades-long relationship with fellow writer Paul Auster, whose illness and death bring their life together to a heartbreaking end.

Siri Hustvedt – Dance Around the Self is an intimate portrait of a woman who has never stopped questioning, exploring and challenging the world around her.
