The Man Behind the Sound: Foley-artist Tapio Liukkonen
What does a punch really sound like, or a footstep in the snow, or the rustle of a jacket? And what happens when everything on screen looks real, but the sounds are actually created somewhere else?
At Rokumentti, we get a glimpse behind the scenes of filmmaking as Joensuu-based foley artist Tapio Liukkonen demonstrates how sound is created for film. During this live demonstration, different materials and a touch of imagination are transformed into footsteps, punches, crashes and all the sounds that make what we see on screen feel real.
Liukkonen has worked internationally as a foley artist and is the founder of Kaamos Sound. His work can be heard in hundreds of film and television productions, including The Outpost, The Protégé, Je’vida and Palava Maa.
Come and see – and hear – what happens when the man behind the sound steps into the spotlight.
Free entry, with no advance registration required. Please notice that foley demonstration and talk are only in Finnish.
