½ Revolution is an eyewitness report on the revolution in Egypt in 2011. Two filmmakers were on site, when the people took over the streets demanding the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak. Tired of corruption and unemployment, the citizens spread information on social media and induced a massive movement on the streets of Cairo. The directors of ½ Revolution documented in detail the atmosphere that was constantly turning more and more oppressive.

The significance of ½ Revolution does not lie in its cinematic merits. On the contrary, the material shot amid the events is raw, but it shows what really happened behind the news headlines. The film shows us what kind of people these revolutionaries are, and what kind of chaotic mix of hope, faith, and machine firearms their lives have become. Their despair and anger cause a need for change, but at the same time, the political unrest blows the everyday life to pieces. ½ Revolution is a story about humane humans, who live amid joy and despair, and risk their lives for freedom. These people behind the news should not be forgotten.
