Knucklebonehead is a new film by Oskari Pastila, telling the story of the rock machine known as Knucklebone Oscar. Everyone who’s seen the band on stage can testify that the singer-guitarist Oskari Martimo is not your average, housetrained musician. Martimo goes insane on stage, his performance is filled with primeval fury to the point of being ridiculous. Guitars are smashed to splinters, sweat flows and a primitive lust reeks in the air. Restaurants cancel the band’s gigs and send bills for broken furniture. And now the band is set to tour China. How well will the polite Chinese tolerate Martimo’s raging? How do the other members of the band stand the never-ending craziness? Is it time for Oskari to grow up?

Pastila’s film is an elaborate depiction of the conflict between the passionate surrender to rock’n’roll and the grown-up family life. With a psychiatrist, Oskari Martimo goes through his urge to wreck everything whenever he hears the sound of the electric guitar. Simultaneously, the story takes us to China, where the psychiatrist’s advice clash with the reality. The Shanghai World Expo gets its share of the drunken rockstars’ debauchery.

Knucklebonehead is a fast-paced and an entertaining film for all the friends of the rock’n’roll lifestyle. Warning – contains nudity, obscenity, strong language… contains rock’n’roll.
