We Are Together

Paul Taylor:
We Are Together (UK, South Africa, 2008)
83 min. - English - English subtitles

We Are Together is a beautiful and inspiring documentary of the 12-year-old Slindile and her friends in the Agape orphanage in South-Africa. Shot over a period of three years, the film tells the incredible and moving story of children for whom music provides an escape from the harsh reality. The majority of the children in the orphanage have lost their parents to AIDS. Singing offers these shy children an opportunity to express themselves and deal with their emotions.

Paul Taylor followed the children of Agape and their ambition to perform in London. The film is a surprising and sensitive depiction of the strength positive attitude can give you even under distressing circumstances. The documentary has received praise and awards everywhere it has been shown. Do remember to take tissues with you – We Are Together will move even the most cynical viewers to tears.

Behind the documentary is the RISE Foundation campaign raising funds for the education of South-African orphans.
