22-Pistepirkko

Based at Utajärvi in 1980, 22-Pistepirkko righteously carries the mantle of an outstanding group. In their music everything that's ever been branded as stylish or seducing can be heard, yet they remain unique and original. Should the world be right-minded, a movie festival from Joensuu wouldn't stand a chance of getting this band for a gig as the biggest stadiums would've reserved these men for years. If they wouldn't happen to be playing at the moon, that is. Luckily for us, 22-Pistepirkko are "only" branded as a band enjoying cult status whose new album Drops & Kicks rediscovers the listener's faith in real music and whose gigs offer all kinds of bangs and blames you couldn't expect. That's it for the hype. Ladies & gentlemen, please welcome the one and only – 22-Pistepirkko.

Teatteriravintola Saturday 11th November. Tickets 8 €.

The Others aka 22PP

The Others has been born as a result of 22-Pistepirkko's (see former) guys' love for primitive and wild rock music. Their gigs can be described as tributes to the music that used to make various hips shake way down the line of years. The Others reach the mystical core of rock'n roll, the all-the-bad-things-come-this-way - spirit parents have been worried about throughout the years. Their debut album Monochromeset shows the band's versatility as the even louder songs are followed by an ever-so-lovely ballad Love Hurts that brings a tender tear to a thick-skinned truck driver's eye. You'll feel it.

Teatteriklubi Saturday 11th November. Tickets 3,50€.

Desert Planet

Qué pasa? On stage we have two aliens playing music by computers from a world where Super-Mario holds the title of President and Pacman operates as the commander of armed forces. In the audience there's a joystick-generation getting it on and their braincore has been tattooed with the image of shaking and shimmering screens. The athmosphare created is stunning yet ingenius. It makes you want to explore in a reality where only two dimensions exist. While wondering the flooding naivity it should be remembered that reviews from abroad sing their praises and in 2005 the district of Lappi rewarded the band with an art prize. Quite a band. Gee, the world sure is a golly special place. Worth a try.
